Radiologists are medical doctors who have completed medical school and hold a Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree. They are trained to interpret and analyze medical imaging scans to diagnose and monitor various health conditions. In contrast, radiologic technologists (or radiographers) are healthcare professionals responsible for performing the imaging tests. Radiologists not only interpret the results but also write reports on their findings, suggest further tests or treatments if necessary, and, in some cases, treat diseases using radiation (radiation oncology) or imaging-guided procedures (interventional radiology). Additionally, they oversee or guide radiology staff in performing imaging procedures.
